Tamiya are renowned for doing Limited Edition Kits. Usually if it's a Pre-Painted version of a standard kit, say a TT-02 model, then this will only be available in limited numbers.

Tamiya will also do special versions of a standard production model, say like the Super Clod Buster 'Black Edition', and this will again only be available in limited numbers.

As for Re-Release kits these are a new & updated version of an 'Original' older model. These items can be extremely sought after especially if it's a model that hasn't been re-released for a long time since the original came out.
